Saturday July 7th from 1pm to 4:30pm

Learn about screen printing and make a unique lampshade.

During this 3 1/2 hour make & take workshop, Shayla will teach the basics of screen printing, as well as show you the tools and techniques for printing on fabric. She will guide you through designing, drawing and cutting a stencil which you will use to screen print onto fabric.

And learn how to use your freshly printed fabric to create a beautiful 16" drum lampshade!

Everyone will take home 1 freshly printed and assembled lampshade.

  • No experience necessary.

  • This class is open to ages 14+

  • All materials will be provided.

  • Refreshments will be served.

  • Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a little bit dirty. Screen printing ink will stain your clothing!

About the instructor:

Shayla Johnson has a love for all things pattern! She started Scarlet Crane Creations to create stylish, high-quality products featuring contemporary, minimalist illustrations and pattern design. Based right here at POST, Scarlet Crane Creations is as a dedicated micro-batch textile printing house that specializes in hand-printed fabrics used to create home decor products and lifestyle accessories. Unique surface patterns range from free flowing florals to abstract textures in order to produce stylish and sophisticated collections. Scarlet Crane Creations operates in an entirely American supply chain with fabrics that are sourced in the US and production focused locally in Detroit, MI. All inks are also eco-friendly.

POST Workshop Rules:

Please arrive on time or a little early to settle in and look around before the class begins.

All participants will be required to sign a liability waiver prior to the workshop. POST assumes no liability for accidents or injuries. Create at your own risk.

Please let us know if you have a need for any accommodations that we can plan for in advance; including special needs, severe allergies, and/or making the space functional for those with physical limitations, etc. Our goal is to make our space open, safe, and inviting to all.

Cancellation Policy:

Please note that workshop registrations are not refundable. If you need to cancel, you must do so 7 days prior to the workshop in order to receive a POST credit for another workshop on our schedule. Space is limited and the classes are carefully planned to accommodate a certain number of attendees. Due to the cost of purchasing and preparing materials, we are unable to offer full refunds. Your spot may be transferred to a friend though - just call and let us know if someone will be taking your spot.

In the event of low registration, workshops may be cancelled by POST 2 days prior to the class. In the case of a cancellation, we will contact all participants with the option of rescheduling or a full refund.
