TEXTILE TAKEOVER! Introduction to Natural Dyes: Silk Scarves with Color Wheel on Saturday August 25

65.00

Workshop #1 during our Textile Takeover Weekend!

Hosted by POST + Color Wheel Collective

Saturday August 25th from 10am to 1pm

Join us as we kick off a weekend celebrating the beauty of textiles & fiber arts!

During this 3 hour make & take workshop, you will tour the on-site dye garden and learn about all of the dye plants we have grown here this summer. You will also learn how to identify native plants that can be foraged in the Detroit area.

The artists of Color Wheel will then demo a bundling technique with the freshly gathered plants to create eco-print silk scarves. Bundles will be hot processed and class participants can explore and check out other artists while they wait for dye bath to do the magic!

Everyone will take home a silk scarf of their own creation and the know-how to continue growing, foraging, and using natural dyes for future projects.

  • Please wear clothing that can withstand dye splashes - not your fanciest, favorite garments :)

  • No experience necessary

  • This class is open to ages 14+

  • All materials are provided

  • Refreshments will be served!

About the instructors:
