Introduction to Sashiko Stitching - Traditional Japanese Embroidery on Saturday June 23

55.00

Hosted by POST + Elizabeth Royal

Saturday June 23rd from 3 to 5pm

A traditional technique from Japan, Sashiko means "little stabs," which perfectly describes the distinctive running stitch that defines Sashiko's style.

During this small group workshop, Elizabeth will teach basic decorative Sashiko Stitching Techniques including turns, stitch spacing, tool use, and more. You will learn about the history of the art and how to use Sashiko in both a decorative and functional way.

Everyone will take home their own Sashiko sampler, and a beginner's kit including thimble, thread, and needles to complete the sampler and continue to develop the art of Sashiko embroidery on their own.

  • No experience necessary.
  • This class is open to ages 10+
  • All tools and fabric will be provided.
  • Refreshments will be served.
